Until proven guilty by a court of law. That is the Christian way and that is the law of the land. Anyone, who could so hurt others, in such a heinous fashion gives me pause to wonder at the root of his soul and wherein it dwells. His mind is troubled, I think. Killing is not something that comes easily to most people. But, I will not condemn this man until he is judged fairly by his peers.
Like the rest of our nation, I grieve for the loss of those in the entourage surrounding Gabrielle Clifford. I grieve most for her deceased supporters and the nine year old child whose life has been so callously ended. I grieve for the Federal judge, John Roll, who had so much to offer. A gentle and kind man cut short long before his time.
All this grief, brought on this day, by a man whose insane actions cut like a knife without thought or feeling. A man who, in mere seconds, destroyed the lives, families, relations and promise of people who were making a difference. Yet, he lives and some of them do not.
This sad person, who wrecked this insanity on these noble public and private servants, does deserve his fate. Sadly, his conviction or eventual execution will never repay the price paid this day in a strip mall in Arizona.
May these children of God who have survived this bad time, heal and be well. Amen.
