A pleasant letter from a resident of the great state of California!

I was wondering, lately, whatever happened to California and its assorted problems? Gov. Jerry Brown has now been in office since Jan. 3, 2011 and, may I say, what a stellar job he’s doing for folks living in a state that represents the seventh largest economy in the World! After some ground breaking action on his part, the unemployment rate is now hovering at just 12%. And who said the liberals couldn’t rule!

Meanwhile the population of the state has remained relatively steady, thanks in part to a vast influx of Hispanics from across the border, an increase that almost exactly mirrors a decrease in the white population. Well Jerry, at least that’s one thing that’s balanced. Now, here’s a letter that I came across from one of its citizens:

CAbikerbabe California Dreaming is now a nightmare.  Property taxes on my 2800 sq ft home = $14,900 a year.  Same size home in a resort mountain town in AZ = $2500 a year.  “Smart meters” recently installed on CA homes to “regulate” how much water and energy you use and when you use it.  Gas is $4 a gallon; beaches are filthy, much smaller due to sand depletion, and crowded. Freeways and surface streets are full of potholes with no money in the budget to fix (Beware motorcycle riders!), 30% of drivers have no insurance, most are foreign so there is no enforcement, Californians must pay for sex-change operations for jailed prisoners, our schools teach kids that CA really belongs to Mexico, every kid gets a free lunch so as not to stigmatize those who need it, food stamps come in the form of a credit card so as not to stigmatize the user, and the radio air waves are full of Public Service ads encouraging EVERYONE to get food stamps — “even if you own a house, a car and have a job.”  (that’s exactly what the ad says!).  Half the people who ride Amtrak don’t pay, and you’re allowed to drink on the train so gangs bring 12-packs to down on the way to a ball game or downtown, making the ride miserable for the rest.  Buses in So. Cal. run all day with only 1 or 2 riders, and now Moonbeam wants to build a train that takes no one nowhere.  Lovely.”

Why yes, ‘bikerbabe’, that does sound just lovely to me also. And who said there was no free lunch, certainly not our boy Jerry!
