River Run Park Campsite #29!

ImageOn occasion I’ve had people inquire as to the amenities at the Corps of Engineer River Run Park located in southwestern Missouri near the town of Forsyth. The park is located next to Bull Shoals a popular location for fishermen to congregate from all over. In some recent years it has flooded to the extent that the park was closed for much of the season. This year (2012), due in no small part to the drought, the park has been open for business as water levels are actually a bit lower than normal.Image

In the map of the park, you can see that the campsite I’m writing out today is fairly distant from the rest of the other campsites. It also has a generous number of trees that come in handy during the hotter days of the year.

Each campsite comes with the following; a concrete picnic table, an awning over the table, a utility table (concrete), a fire pit and a pole to hang a lantern on. In addition there is both water and electrical hookups with the latter situated close to the end of the RV sized driveway. Note that at the time this article was posted only the ten sites over by the Attendants Office have power. The other sites are in need of repair due to damages sustained from flooding.

Site #29 is a great location for anyone who would like a great view of the river and still not be to close to any mosquito hatcheries. And, while the walk to the restrooms is a bit long, it pays off by being relatively quiet in the evening hours.

At this time the cost is $18 per night for the fully functional sites and just half that for the ones without power. Nearby is the town of Forsyth where you can get gas, supplies and fishing equipment. All in all, a really nice place to stay!

Thank you for this information about River Run. No other website has this much information about it. I plan to go down there sometime this Spring.
