When the President of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy announced on a radio program that “we’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. And I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about.” You’d think all hell had broken out!
But, just hold on a minute. Are we talking about the 1%’ers who are actually gay here or are we talking about a political football that some are seeking to exploit? Most recently, the CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos, has taken just the opposite stance when he donated 2 ½ million to help get the same sex proposal passed in Washington State. Well, thanks Jeff, but frankly you’re an idiot. Taking a public (and mostly unpopular stance) using your companies image for collateral was a dumb-ass thing to do. A lose-lose situation that is bound to have some negative impact on a company that is beginning to show cracks all around its foundation. But hey, I guess you’re only human after all…
The thing is, some people out there are trying to mix freedom of expression with bigotry and racism. Sorry, but that dog just don’t hunt. For my part (and I’ll assume I’m speaking for many Americans), I tolerate Homosexuality as an aberration and nothing more. I don’t hate Homo’s any more than I hate someone with say a clubbed foot. They were born that way and that is the way they will stay. But, don’t ever forget that the other 99% of us folks out there practice and believe in a marriage as a union, formed under God, between two adults. (Anyone who wants to start messing with those sacred concepts will have a long and hard road to climb, trust me).
So, go ahead ‘Jeff the Bozo’ and try and turn this into a political football. Just don’t expect me to shop at your online store anymore.
