Is a massive California earthquake near?

EQThomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center has just issued a potentially dire warning when he stated that the San Andreas fault is “locked, loaded and ready to roll”! Jordan issued the warning during a keynote speech at the National Earthquake Conference in Long Beach, Calif. on Wednesday, May the 4th. According to Jordan. “The pressure has been building on that part of the fault without being relieved for more than a hundred years,” If it does let go, an earthquake on the order of magnitude 8, on the Richter scale, could lead to losses in the hundreds billions of dollars not to mention a potentially massive loss of life. (Something that the cash strapped state could ill afford to experience right now).

To add insult to injury, the Golden State is also currently facing many large and troubling issues including:

  • Water Supply: Outdated Infrastructure and Unreliable Water Supply
  • Revenue Uncertainty: Unpredictable Tax Structures and Budgets
  • Wall of Debt: Accounting Gimmicks and Understated Debt
  • Public Retirement Benefits: Missed Payments, Mounting Debts, and Poor Management
  • Healthcare: Rising Costs and Diminishing Access to Care
  • K-12 Education: Low, Unstable Funding and Poor Student Performance
  • High-Speed Rail: Unrealistic Estimates and Poor Implementation
  • Crime and Corrections: Massive Overcrowding and Rising Costs
  • Economy: Lagging Recovery and Uneven Economic Growth
  • Civic Engagement: Lack of Transparency, Eroding Public Trust, and Low Voter Turnout

All of these issues, when taken as a synergistic whole, have lead some unnamed sources to indicate that California is on an ‘unsustainable’ track that could see a total economic and infrastructure collapse occur sometime in the foreseeable future. This pundit firmly believes that any such failure of a state that is as economically large as many small countries, would likely prove to be a watershed test for the Republic’s survival going forward. Hillary Clinton, who is currently expected to win the upcoming Presidential election, will potentially become the final piece of the puzzle that will prove to be the undoing of a 239 year old grand experiment in freedom…
