Dieting and depression!

Empty shelves, like these at a supermarket in Caracas, are a common sight in Venezuela. People can shop only on designated days and must undergo fingerprint scanning to prove their identity.

The year 2020 was an eye opening experience for me, personally and physically. Way back in January, of that year, I was feeling very optimistic about many things. The economy was humming along nicely. There were no wars our country was involved in and I was actually losing some weight! It was like a really perfect spring day. So much so, I really didn’t pay much attention to the clouds gathering off on the horizon.

Fast forward to December and I now realize that depression had done a pretty big number on me in terms of my weight control capabilities. Was it the virus that China intentionally released, or perhaps, it was those riots that had turned a sunny day into something dark and overcast. Really, there was quite a lot going on, wasn’t there?

So, in a nut shell, I went from a low of 171 lean and mean pounds, right back up to 180! And, I managed to do that in just about two months. What the heck happened? One word… systemic depression.

Just as Trump was a true cheerleader for our country, and one who made people like myself full of hope, the opposite happened right after the November 3rd election when it became apparent just how desperately sick the Left was. How they went all out, not to just unseat a President, but to change our Republic into a Socialist satellite of China. It’s happening right now, in December, and it will likely accelerate in the months ahead. And nothing, short of a bloody civil war is going to change things for the better. The corruption, in Washington DC, is so ingrained and out of control that only a revolution could hope to restore our Constitution and our national sense of security.

Security is at the heart of everything most of us hope for. It’s the promise of a Republic that rewards those who work hard, build and save. It’s the promise of a good education, not one filled with Left leaning barbs that no child could easily navigate. It’s the promise that the Rule of Law will be fairly and equally upheld, in a Nation of lawfully armed individuals, who are able to defend their rights at a moment’s notice.

What this Nation will NOT have under Joe and his ho, is ANY of the above. Socialist countries feed on their citizens, they don’t nourish them. Leaders live in protected bubbles, safe from the rabble down on the streets. (Sort of the manner in which Pelosi and the rest of her kind live right now)! Very soon, that kind of division will become even clearer, as the Middle Class is swept away forever.

So, the answer for me and my diet expectations doesn’t look very rosy. And, to tell the truth, perhaps I should even put on a few more pounds, as a hedge against the day when the local grocery store shelves are bare.
