Well, I was batting a thousand, anyways. I was 0 for 2, in the weight loss department. On Day Two, I was really in the grove, up until about the 2PM hour, or so. That time found me in a local watering hole feeling depressed and we all know what depressed people often do… They drink too much and eat too much. A former piece I wrote, titled Diet and Depression, really came home to roast that day!
But hey! Day Three was going to be the real game changer. I had a good feeling about things. Also, being out of money and food actually helped me out quite a bit!
9:00 AM – Up and at it with a breakfast that consisted of a single slice of bacon with two sort of scrambled eggs that started out as sunny side up, and then morphed into an omelet which got broken up as in the aforementioned scrambled. I think I’ll call it my Sunny Side Scramlette hanging out with a bit of pork! Yes! I had just invented a new breakfast dish and it was only 9AM! It was also perhaps the ugliest meal I’ve prepared in some time!
Since it was a Sunday, and since I am very religious, I decided to rest. You know it says to do that in the bible. [Genesis 2:3]. Sure, I did some walking, but that was when I went around my condo looking for loose change. Egad! Twenty seven cents was not going to get me very far….
12:00 Noon – After some really intense resting, I saw by the clock on the wall, that it was time for some lunch! And, after a careful inspection of my fridge, I also discovered that it was going to be another version of beef stir fry. I gathered together a small breakfast steak (120 grams), a couple of slices of bell pepper, some sliced onion and a few rather large looking mushrooms. A meal that was very similar to the one I had the day before. But wait! I also decided to add some pasta to the mix! (In the background there was the distinctive sound of a train’s wheel coming off the track, again)… Yet, even with all that, this meal came in with fairly decent numbers!
Eureka! I found a twenty dollar bill in my jeans! Uh oh….
2:30 PM – Early afternoon found me driving very very carefully, when I slid right into a bar! Talk about bad luck! (Hey. If I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all)! The Chief’s were playing (and won), the atmosphere was warm and so I had a few drinks… Do I regret that? Hell no!
4:00 PM – Dinner consisted of potato chips and a few more beers. That’s all I really felt like having.
My take on this Sunday was to understand that I am human and born to make mistakes. That said, I did live this day very well. Perhaps Day 4 will also be something to write home about…
