The fly in the diet plan ointment!

Do you know many people go to great links and spend lots of money to buy into diets that promise to improve their their health through the loss of weight and through the eating of good nutritious food. But here’s the rub, some of these folks also smoke and it’s kind of ironic that they are also spending lots of money on a habit that is very bad for their long range health.

Even as billions of dollars have been spent on the hundreds of diet programs out there, something is still missing…. something that is killings millions.

Today in America, there are three life style problems that are directly associated with early death; obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Poor eating habits, combined with a lack of exercise have been shown to directly impact any diet program in a negative way. That’s what the really good diet plans generally focus on. I’ve found the Paleo diet, the Adkins plan plan and Nutrisystem to all be effective if the person is really serious about change their life style for the better. Yet there remains one fly in the ointment….

Individuals who choose to smoke, are seriously impacting their path to better health. This is not an opinion, bur rather a fact. My own sister recently passed, with lung disease being one of the causes of her death. It really strikes home to me when you lose someone you’ve loved. (I quit many decades ago and while the effort was very hard, I’ve never regretted that decision).

One would hope that the new administration in Congress would take up the cause of helping its citizens stop a habit that costs many lives while negatively impacting our National healthcare network. (A network that will be put to a severe test when tens of millions of immigrants cost over the border this year and who have been promised free care).
