After the last election, that so many former Conservatives had apparently ‘switched’ over to the Progressive side puzzled me, at first. Then, after thinking about it for a bit of time, I realized that likely it was mostly people over the age of 60, that represented the majority of the shift. A group that possibly figured that since they could now see the end of the road, as far as their life was concerned, perhaps they figured to get as much ‘free’ stuff as possible under Democratic rule.
This concept of ‘screw the young’ shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to any historian. Sentiments like that are seen, all over the world, by aging classes of leadership who are wearing Depends and hobbling around as best they can. Just look to any socialist state and you will see a bunch of old people living high on the misery of millions of young. Nancy Pelosi and her lavish lifestyle, while the rest of the country is drowning in debt, could be a telling point.
