‘The Federal Program Fee recovers the contributions that Vonage must make to the Federal Universal Service Fund (USF) under Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations. The Federal USF is used to support: Affordable telecommunications services to schools, libraries, and rural health care facilities.’
So, you know the taxes that were not supposed to go up for the Middle Class? Think again. The Federal Program fee is nothing short of a progressive redistribution of money that tax payers make which is then given to someone who wants more free stuff.
My recent bill now shows that I’m being taxed at a rate of 45% just to have the ‘privilege’ of using Vonage as a phone service! I too am on a fixed income and this sort of citizen tax gouging, by the government, is totally unacceptable. So, regretfully, Vonage is yet another service that will feel the edge of my ax.
