Hamburgers were (supposedly) invented by Fletcher Davis of Athens, Texas. According to oral histories, in the 1880s he opened a lunch counter in Athens, Texas and served a ‘burger’ of fried ground beef patties with mustard and Bermuda onion between two slices of bread, with a pickle on the side.
So, the classic hamburger has been around for quite some time. Today, it’s served worldwide in many and sundry forms. Me personally? I like to make my own at home. I also like to keep them simple, and I like to make them cheaply!
The classic DanO burger has been written about in previous posts. The burger I was having this day, has not been posted about, and the reason is simple. It’s basically a plain Jane burger which consists of; a hamburger bun, a ground beef patty, a slice of onion and some condiments. The only thing unusual about it is in the selection of condiments; I prefer a mix of mayo, mustard, ketchup and horse radish.
Preparation time was about 15 minutes and the cost came in at only about a dollar. A sweet deal!
